The literature and media project Lessons in Literature presents a new program One Hundred Minutes of Happiness. This is a sequel to the London première of Chrestomathy, which took place in 2019. In the spring of 2021, the play was shown in Russia at the Leningrad Center.
The stars of the Russian theater and film will come to the stage of the show space: Igor Vernik, Daria Moroz, Katerina Shpitsa, Agniya Kuznetsova, Anton Lavrentiev, Nikita Volkov and Alina Astrovskaya.
Together with them, a stage actor, Andrey Veshkurtsev, will take part in the project for the first time. The performers will read poetry by great Russian poets and novelists, from Anna Akhmatova, Alexander Blok, Joseph Brodsky and Nikolay Gumilyov to Vladimir Mayakovsky, Marina Tsvetaeva and others. The central themes of loneliness and gender relations will be explored through the language of poets from the Silver Age, the period of the Khrushchev Thaw and our contemporaries. One of the participants in the show, Anton Lavryentyev, will read his own poems. The performance will be accompanied by guitar and cello music, and during the show, the walls of the auditorium will be transformed into multimedia installations.
The Lessons in Literature project by director Felix Mikhailov started seven years ago, in 2015. The goal is to preserve the culture of reading and teach people to listen to and understand the sound of real literature.
