The Leningrad Center together with the Molbert Gallery present the exhibition “Faces and Images” dedicated to the creativity of the Traugot family. The display includes over 50 works of paintings, graphics, and decorative and applied arts.

For many years, the art of the Traugot family has been keeping the door to magical worlds of H. C. Andersen, C. Perrault, E.T. W. Hoffmann and the Brothers Grimm ajar. The artistic language of Georgy Traugot and his two sons – Alexander and Valery – is recognizable. The Faces and Images Exhibition will be enjoyable for everyone, as both adults and children like fairytales. The audience will delve into the world of magic and fantasies, see creative works of an entire family and definitely discover something new.

Faces are the main source of inspiration for the Exhibition. There are no two identical faces in the world, each one is unique, each person is peculiar. The variety of an entire world is unfolded through faces the artist sees on their way.“I like art works with eyes in them. Not just a picture of eyes, but a look,” Alexander Traugot says. The artist considers it vital for the art to speak. Faces in the art works of the Traugot family are open and turned towards a person. Peering into them, the audience addresses themselves, their personalities, their thoughts.

The display includes painting and graphic works by the two brothers, Alexander and Valery, and their parents Georgy Traugot and Vera Yanova. Georgy’s creativity was represented by watercolors of the 1950s–1960s, while Vera Yanova’s creativity by paintings demonstrating the artist’s talent in various genres. Ceramic vases made by the artist’s wife, Elizabeth de Treal de Quincey-Traugott, were shown for the first time to the general public.
